About Exhibition!

An exhibition of Evgeniya Gapchinskaya paintings is taking place at
our Pushkin’s boulevard!
Yesterday I finally made it to come see it… I miss the words to
express my delight of what I’ve seen :) Because exhibition is like the
workshop – when it’s live it’s 100 times more exciting than on all
reproductions and posters together.
It’s so cute that everyone is looking with shiny faces. Those who
entered by accident, are walking with very funny faces, they reveal
surprised delight, they can’t believe they see it and that such things
are possible, and then they slowly transform into bliss, and dissolve
within other more acquainted attendees.
Here are some of my favorites:

Don’t laugh, this is exercise birch (sarvangasana)

How everything begun...

In the childhood I’ve dreamt practically about everything. It’s hard to name whom I didn’t want to be. This fact didn’t prevent me from becoming keen on everything: I learned to embroider and knit, I even made clothes for myself, plaited the beads, drawn, taken dance and athletic classes. My mother was saying that my keen interest to everything was my grandmother’s inheritance – she could do everything by herself!

Over the time, I grew, school and institute took over all my time. By graduation I didnt have any hobbies, so completely absorbed into my job. I thought that if one starts to do something, should do that perfectly.

This led to the fact that I became irreplaceable employee, who couldn’t even take vacation because entire work was stopping. Eventually this started to depress me. And even though my job was rather creative, I started to wish for something bigger.

At that time I got to know about felting. I took the felting workshop, where I learned the basics, and then I bought required tools and wool. And then I sat down and started experimenting, constantly continuing to enrich my knowledge using the Internet. My first results were small holiday-looking needlefelted felt-boot, and accompanying small Christmas tree – that was the new year’s eve when I started to do all of this.

By that time I was completely tired of my job, because even while sleeping I saw it in my dreams, so I said I want to quit the job. At my company noone understood that, because position seemed quite high, salary was considered good, a lot of possibilities were going to open, and I for some reason didn’t want all of that. Finally I passed entire job to my assistant, and started new excellent life, in which I can do just what I like to.

In this period I started to master wet felting technique (nunofelting) using wool with lace, silk, which resulted in my first scarf:
